Sunriver is a 3,340-acre resort and residential and recreation oriented community
located 15 miles south of Bend in Central Oregon. Developing since 1968, the community consists of approximately 2,834 homes, 858 condominiums, and another 388 lots that are sold but not built on, giving a final total of approximately 4,080 dwellings. Over
1800 people make Sunriver their full-time home and dozens of other families spend up to several months a year in the Central Oregon sunshine.
Cross paths with early
explorers and trappers such as Kit Carson, John C. Fremont and Nathaniel J. Wyeth as you drive the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway, accessible just 20 minutes from Sunriver. The towering Cascade Mountains provide the backdrop for this scenic drive and offer fabulous
hiking and challenging rock climbing. Wind your way along the Byway as it climbs into the Deschutes National Forest and see for yourself why this route was named after the Cascade Lakes. This Byway's main feature is the numerous lakes that seem to spring from
everywhere, but there are numerous other attractions for visitors to explore.
Both the pictures on this page were taken from areas along that highway, and we encourage you to check it out!
For more information on the byway (which is closed during the Winter months because of snow),
